Sure but if your stance on the Republicans eroding away at democracy and moving towards a nationalistic police state is “Democrats are sometimes bad too” then you’re basically just enabling it

If by “both sides” you mean Left and Right, or Conservative and Progressive, then yeah sure. But the Republican Party is so far to one side that they’ve rejected everything good. It’s literally a cult of personality dedicated to a pedophile sex trafficker.

That’s just ultimately not true anymore.

My stance is that they are both bad because the republicans are doing awful shit and the dems are enabling it

Brother you just laid out the difference in gradient of badness, by your own logic they’re clearly not equatable

I never said they’re equal, I said they’re both bad. They’re two wings of the same party, one of which is doing horrendous shit and the other is standing by and watching it happen while giving them a stern finger-wagging

I mean I think that’s fair as long as you’re not losing the plot of what’s going on instead of turning around and going “well remember when Democrats made us wear masks that was bad too.” My point is really just that people say shit like this to deflect and make it seem like Republicans should be allowed to continue what they’re doing because Democrats did something they think is somehow comparable

i am not saying this in the “liberal” vs “maga” sense that we are in today because both are just completely extreme, but there are good things that democrats can/want to do, but there are good things that republicans can/want to do.

Democrats enable it literally every time by voting for Republican budgets and making a complete and total refusal to wield power effectively. Republicans are openly authoritarian, and Democrats are so afraid of being called authoritarian by Republicans that they simply roll over instead of doing any meaningful opposition

That’s pretty much what I mean, yeah

Democrats will tell their own base to stop being so angry about authoritarianism and then not do anything to actually impede the authoritarianism that’s at issue. And then if you ask more of them, they just call you a wrecker and pretend you’re the reason they lose elections like they’re not the ones losing.
