The patriarchy is the reason this double standard happens because let’s be honest that kid will probably be conditioned to believe it was no big issue that he was “lucky”Exactly. Women are seen as sex objects so when a sex object chooses you (even without your consent) you’re considered the man and lucky. And it’s mind blowing if they say they didn’t enjoy it, because why on earth WOULDNT you enjoy it when the object of attraction forces themselves on you instead of you having to chase it down? That’s the logic and it’s cancerous and terrible
Even when people do understand that you didn’t want it, they’ll still do the whole “Well if you REALLY didn’t want it, why didn’t you just stop it, you’re bigger and stronger than her” to male SA victims. And it’s like, man, if I had stopped her by force then she could turn around and be like “that guy hit me” and undoubtedly destroy my reputation, if not land my ass in jail.
I got stalked and SA’d by an ex-girlfriend of mine, and a lot of people trivialized it when I would talk about it “man I wish I had a girl that obsessed with me” and “well why didn’t you just stop her?” and all that shit. Only my very closest friends actually took it seriously.
“Why didn’t you just stop her?” was the one that made me the most upset because it was like asking me “Why wouldn’t you give the person you know is a psychotic liar the opportunity to ruin you?” If I stopped her with violence, which I was physically capable of doing, then she’d just go tell everyone I’m violent against women. It’d be my word against hers, and I’m certain most people would’ve believed her over me.
