Is it bad that I see higher gas prices as an opportunity for individuals to temporarily move away from fossil fuels and become accustomed to a lower-emission lifestyle?😭

Like it absolutely sucks that it is so expensive to fill up my tank when I need it and the war is completely unnecessary but I usually try to find a glimmer of hope in tough situations😭

i was literally just talking about this with someone bc electric vehicles are like 30-40% of the market/consumer share in the UK, it’s around 10% in the US I believe. 1/3 people in the UK have an EV and 1/10 people in the US do (concentrated in California and largely boosted by Tesla). Our country relies very heavily on fossil fuels, which we’re also obviously seeing with planes, shipments/delivery, manufacturing, on and on.

I know that wind/water/solar/electric is not always going to meet the demands of every sector but they’re RENEWABLE! If we invested in larger/scale infrastructure, access, and quality, the reliance of oil (and the fallout of rising prices/non-renewability) would be greatly reduced. The avg American spends like 2k/yr on gas
