Being a proud American means wanting to protect the nations national parks and preserve the great landscapes of the US by the way.

I think one of the coolest things about this country is the wide range of biomes. Go to Arizona and you’re in the desert, Colorado has snowy mountains and plains, marshes in the Midwest (although they’re mostly wiped out atp), swamp in the southeast, coasts on two different oceans, caves and a mountain range that was once connected to Scotland, like it’s so sick that it’s all here and all accessible

I live in South-central Oregon, and it’s crazy how much I can see just around here. 3 hours east and I’m sitting in a redwood rainforest, an hour more and I’m on a rocky coastline. An hour south and I’m in desert lava beds. Half an hour north and I’m in ponderosa pine forests.

I’m in northern Kentucky and I think it’s awesome that I can drive an hour or two and end up in Appalachia, see waterfalls, caves, etc. plus the Great Lakes just a few hours away where I grew up! I love that every state has its own cool thing going on

shoutout to florida for some of the best beaches in the world and a selection of wildlife so diverse and rare it is not matched by any place of earth really. lots of species endemic and isolated to florida, you could spend your whole life outside and never come across all the wildlife we have out here. also got nice plains, forrests, wetlands, swamps (shoutout everglades) and islands. i'm sure there's more but it's sad it's all getting plowed down for freeways apartment buildings and smoke shops

I went to the keys for a marine bio trip in high school and it was absolutely surreal. I’m so glad I got a water tight bag for my phone so I could record the reefs and other areas we went snorkeling. We got to kayak through the mangroves and snorkeled in a quarry at night, such an extremely diverse and incredible place

Florida’s ecology is incredible. I remember kayaking in springs alongside manatees and alligators. I remember camping on a remote key island and seeing the hermit crabs everywhere. Outside Gainesville I even saw one of the bison that’s been reintroduced to paynes prairie preserve.

I'm proud to be American because of my family's history. My heritage goes back here for thousands of years, my other relatives came here to escape famine and built homes for themselves. My country has been apart of terrible things, but has also started amazing things. I'm proud to be apart of the communities that live here in the United States, even if the people who run it are treacherous.

There is an insane untapped voting block of people who hate mass deforestation in rural communities to build Black Rock pop-up homes and who want big businesses to stay out. They are completely unrepresented by their party and by their elected officials. Driving through state routes and making long trips across Tennessee and Kentucky i see the towns that are devastated by dollar stores, the abandoned small businesses. They don't like what's going on, but they vote to let it happen.

That's fair, I'd be careful saying that online though. Not sucking the nut sack of the US while also having immigrant family is a great way to have ICE looking into you. Idk what YikYak's security is like.

unfortunately the reefs in the keys are getting devastated as well as most of the costal reefs, basically anything within 30 miles of shore is just getting destroyed. lots of factors but unfortunately they probably will not be as beautiful as you saw them again in our life time.

The coral reefs are the prettiest they will ever be (again) right now! Go see them. :D Seriously we got like 10 more years before the water gets too hot for them. They were our first tipping point for irreversible climate change disasters. We passed it with flying colors.

Don’t worry I was born in an American hospital, got passport and everything, and my dad got his citizenship back during George bush days. I was actually conceived out of country because they went to Honduras to get everything sorted and came back and mom was pregnant. By the time me or my dad can get deported, they’ll be deporting literally everyone who isn’t a straight white man or at least bisexual white woman

Alright, i get worried because literally anything can be grounds to investigate status these days. I'd hate for US Politics to be the reason something like that happens.

Not where I live I dive all the time and my reefs haven't been the same in a decade. Glad to hear some other reefs are doing well!

Have you ever been to the middlegrounds reef? It's offshore quite a ways but it's spectacular especially for fishing/ wildlife diversity.
