Why do conservatives think that food pantries and churches are enough to feed 45 million Americans? Like people shouldn’t have to rely on the benevolence of others to live

Churches are holding for SCOTUS to let them starve the unfaithful to push America into a theocracy

Relying on government is better than going door to door in your neighborhood begging for food imo

I agree and it's far safer, but to play devils advocate the idea is that people aren't forced to pay for other people's things if they don't want to donate, they shouldn't have to (taxes). Which I could get behind, but Trump has somehow managed to decrease gov spending while raising the taxes for you and me, and lowering them for the .001%. Claiming trickle down economics exist, which has also been disproven bc there is no incentive for the shareholders to take care of customers/employees

I think so much could be solved if like 25% of your taxes you could designate what govt program you want the money to go to

Like fund everything as is with the 75%, then people get to choose “oh I like what the epa and nasa are doing, I want my discretionary taxes to go to them”
