can someone explain to me why we "need" all these new data centers in a perspective of the people building them? like are things not working just fine right now? I don't understand how building over 2,000 of them are supposed to help when things are fine?

We don’t need them there’s an elitist class that wants them. Doesn’t help anybody but them and their sick goals

Ai makes money -> in order to continue getting investment, you have to create more infrastructure -> more data centers

Which AI company is profitable

I never said they are profitable. Ai makes money from *investors* who presumably invest so that they can make more money later on , possibly from other investors who invest more so the valuation keeps going up

I feel like this is already sorta popping because didn't a company just recently tell their employees to stop using AI because it cost too much?

To store data, some believe it’s bc they need it for rapid AI expansion but personally think they are building the infrastructure for mass surveillance of Americans. They’ve done the legislative work for this already in many ways

but doesn't china kinda do that and they have significantly less data centers? it just doesn't make any sense to me... if it's all for AI expansion, I feel like this is such an aggressive way to go about it when it has wide criticisms and companies already are starting to not afford it....

Yep, they are limiting the types of AI at least Like maybe they can use in-house AI but not the top tier Claude code model which thinks for 2 minutes for every prompt etc.

I mean it’s completely impossible to know what China does and how much infrastructure they have
