Absofuckinlutely if that’s what the Greenlanders and danish wanted. Though tbh after so many military threats I don’t see how any incorporation under this administration wouldn’t be obviously coerced given that polls show Greenlanders don’t want be American

This can be done without making Greenland not a Danish territory anymore.

Honestly I wouldn’t even give much of a fuck about how the Danish felt if the Greenlanders truly wanted to be American. But they don’t

100% agree. I think if this was an agenda set and strategically implemented over the course years and likely across administrations with soft power it could have been done.

Would you say the same for (say for example) Alberta?

I mean I would personally oppose it on political grounds because I don’t want more conservatives, but it’s not up to me and it would ultimately be the right of Albertans to self-determine. I think there’s a lot of complexities (for example what about Albertans who don’t want to be American and how would their rights be respected?) but in principle it’s their own right to do so.

We have something called a Compact of Free Association with islands like Micronesia and Palau. This lets us use their territory for military purposes while we offer economic benefits to them, and they stay independent countries.

Like my personal feelings on the matter are separate from if it’s their right to do so

So unless he’s being dishonest and he wants to it’s than full military access to the island, this is the best bet. But this Trump we’re talking about he probly wants resources there

Tbh he already has full military access it’s part of NATO and we have a large base there. He just wants to annex it, which goes against the Greenlanders wishes for independence
