I’ve never had a bad experience with a cop, when I worked my university’s tailgates the cops would come and talk with the staff and it was always a great time, they’re just people who see the worst our nation has to offer on a daily basis and our country would be a much more dangerous place without them
I mean I’ll be the first person to admit that our police system needs to be reworked but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of good cops out there who want to protect people and keep people safe. If you believe that the issue “isn’t with the individual cops” as you say then maybe tweak your message to reflect that the issue is the system, not every single cop.
Your looking into it too much, I had my car stuck in a groove and my phone was dead, thought I was screwed but a cop saw me in trouble pulled off to ask what happened, and literally had a chain in the back and used the company truck to pull me out, saving me time and like a 700 dollar check. I’d say that pretty generous
I’m glad you had one positive experience with a cop. What that doesn’t change is the history of policing in the United States being used as a tool of oppression and state-sanctioned violence against progress. My issue isn’t with individual cops, it’s with the system that they actively participate in and support
They follow rules just like anyone else, your boss wouldn’t let you run outside during work and help someone tie their shoes, does that mean your serving the corporation of their every whim, destroying America without any care for anyone else? No, it means you like your job and don’t want to get fired, even if you really do want to go help them tie their shoes, you have your duty’s at home that requires a paycheck, so you do your best to stand good at your job
