It is quite the full story! If you seriously believe in the "holodomer" narrative, you have yet to do any independent research. First, the Soviet Union was recovering from the destructive civil war. Second, there were several famines caused by bad crop seasons. Third, there was a shortage of farmers due to ongoing industralization. imperial control there were famines regularly every few years in Eastern Europe. After Stalin? Zero. Industralization led to massive increases in the living standard across the Soviet Union and beyond. Could Stalin have done a bit better during the famines of the '30s? Yes, most likely. But the Soviet government distributed hundreds of thousands of kilos of aid and provided financial aid to farmers who lost their crops.
