Why does no one ever talk about the fact that Israel is a safe haven for Druze Arabs (interesting intersectional debate to be had over the way Druze women are exempt from mandatory IDF service though. Technically given special treatment but not equity?)

(Druze men, Circassian men, Jewish men, and Jewish women must all serve. Non-Druze Arabs are not required to serve but may enlist voluntarily)

Because most people know very little about Israel beyond what is commonly talked about. I read a lot about the history so I’m informed in my opposition to the Israeli government. But they just know headlines

Because even a broken clock is right twice a day. This is like asking "but what about all the good humanitarian work the US Military does overseas?" 🥺 It doesn't wash the ledger clean of blood, not by a country mile. Thats why it's not discussed.

Ultimately it’s fairly common for colonial states to have indigenous groups who cooperate with the colonial government and are rewarded for it. For example, the tlaxcaltecs in colonial Mexico. The Druze were able to benefit from Zionism because they were already a persecuted minority under ottoman rule. This provided an opportunity. But for Palestinians, it was inevitably a loss of autonomy and ended up being worse.
