Honestly I don’t care. White people need to learn respect
#FreeKarmel#innocent
Karmelo Anthony was not acting in self defense; self defense laws state that the force returned must be reasonable. Even if Austin Metcalf did provoke him or even shove him like some reports claim that does not warrant a stabbing

Black people need to learn some respect. You’ve clearly never been out of the US to see how white (and some brown) people are treated by black people, especially in the Caribbean .

sir do you know the history of what white people did to the Caribbean…

So that allows them to catcall me and my friends, stab and rape my classmates, break into their houses as we’re just students there trying to study to become doctors. Oh and rip us off every chance they get. It’s not just white people they’re racist towards, it’s Hispanic, Arabs, Latina. If you’re not black, you’re a target when it is our school literally funding the entire island.

The vanity required to believe that their island community would cease to exist without your school being there …

Bro, it’s not vanity. Their island is literally 12 miles wide x 21 miles long (Grenada). The school employs 1000s of its citizens and each year the school brings in 2k more students to their population Their entire economy is tourism brought in already existing student population of around 5k excluding any of their school of arts and sciences. On top of that, without US intervention in the 80s they would be under the control of Cuba.

Caribbean island nations famously love US interventions and being turned into tourist destinations. I’d wager the locals have longer memories than you do

That’s from the locals, I’ve lived there 3.5 years 😘 and they know their economy would crash without the money the school brings in. The only things they produce is rum and chocolate, everything else is imported.

🐗
Anonymous replying to -> #2 2d

Wow! I wonder why they’re so dependent on foreign imports? I wonder how that happened? Also, if you knew the locals well enough to talk to them they clearly weren’t all attacking white people, even the really annoying ones

Because the island literally had nothing? Their fix for a road wash out is a piece of plywood, they can’t keep the power on or wifi working so no wonder it’s a third world country. And I know the women enough to know, since hmmm idk I had to rent from their freaking solicitor and got ripped off monthly their “student rent”. And I’m not talking annoying, I’m talking how my classmates are literally being raped, stabbed, and robbed

I’ve literally been sexually assaulted there, my car has been broken into. You have guys beating their wives in the streets since it’s such a misogynistic country. So unless you’ve been there and lived there SYBAU.

“Our money keeps the entire economy running” >Complains about rent being too high Who’s broke? “Third world” countries do not exist. That imbalance is maintained and manufactured by unequal exchange following literal centuries of colonization. Obviously I don’t condone it, but getting stabbed in Grenada is 100% an unforced error.

Yes it does, their average wages is 8 XCD/~$3 US. Yet they’re charging students that are going 400k+ in debt to be doctors 2k US a month due to student upcharges, $500 US electric bills when I’m not even there in the summer and the only thing running is the fridge because of “student area surcharges” but locals are paying $24us a month for their electric bills with actual use

And people being stabbed is literally girls walking from the bus stop to their apartments in student neighborhoods (the ones with the electrical surcharges close to the school) where our public safety officers (Grenadian jobs) patrol. So sounds like you’re just a sexist pig by saying students (especially women) don’t deserve safety from these misogynistic, cruel, rapist.

And I’m saying the country hides crime like no one’s business and when you’re that far in debt it’s near impossible to leave. All while the island and school is raking in billions a year. Which is then going into the locals economy, which they wouldn’t have without the school. So yes, I am a victim. Of sexual assault, robbery, harassment, and many other crimes because of undisclosed crime.

Thankfully, I am out and finishing my last year of vet school there with clinicals in the US. And there they do, they have no basic respect to any person who is not a local. Especially if you’re white, and female. They call you things like snow bunny and tell you what they’d want you to do to their “sea cucumber” at 8am just outside the grocery story with security there smoking a cigarette with them. You gain a whole new perspective to race when you live outside the country for years.

But it applies to my Hispanic friends and Arabs friends too. Then you see them going to NYC and Miami (the main direct flights from there) and you seriously have to wonder if they treat women the same way in the US. They just need to learn some respect for people in general

Any person who is not a local does nothing for them and historically has caused their islands to be the way that they are: Grenada only gained independence from the UK barely 50 years ago in 1974. My mom was born that year!! They’ve not been independent for even one lifetime!! The school was opened for classes not 3 years later. Then, the U.S. Military came in and occupied the nation in 1983 bc a communist gov’t (Maurice Bishop) was significantly supported by citizens, so the U.S. had to ruin it

The locals are probably absolutely sick to death of outsiders meddling in their islands and making their lives miserable. None of those students are going to give a fuck about the locals nor will they learn anything about the locals. They don’t care to learn the dialect, the food, care for their environment, nor give them any decent respect. They’ve been conditioned to hate outsiders bc outsiders have historically fucked them over constantly.

Europeans discovered the island of Grenada, *slaughtered the indigenous Caribs*, then sugar plantations were established and imported African slaves to work there. Like seriously just read the Wiki pages about the country’s history and you might be like damn, i’d hate outsiders too if I were them.

So that constitutes the right to rape, stab, and rob them? Also, these are medical and vet students that are providing free health care for them in their pets. Especially cleaning up their messes, my own dog donated blood to a puppy that a local attacked with a machete, which is not a rare occurrence. We are essentially working as Doctors Without Borders in training and they’re attacking us and you don’t think that’s wrong?

i just like learning and learned from #2 that they don’t really know much about where they live and why it exists the way that it does. hopefully she is able to understand that 50 years is not even a lifetime’s worth of independence from a foreign country’s rule, let alone one that colonized, killed, and enslaved the ancestors of the people who live there now…… not defending any heinous acts, but it’s not a wonder why they don’t have respect for outsiders.

It’s coming from the fact they’re coming here and acting the same. If black people were the most safe, helpful, polite people to be around there wouldn’t be issues. If they acted like every other race in this world, the world be a lot better place. It’s when they’re threatening others, committing heinous crimes, and harassing others or overall just playing into the “hood” mentality, and by that I mean the girls getting in fights for no reason, posting how their baby daddy got HIV from a teen

i never said i condoned any heinous acts. I just need you to FULLY COMPREHEND the reason why Grenada is in the state that it is in and why the locals react with vitriol and violence toward outsiders. it’s all outsiders had ever given them until just 50 years ago… you can recognize the damage that Jim Crow has done to the American south, now apply that to Grenada which suffered much longer, much worse, and only recently gained legitimate independence and even then, have been bullied by the U.S.

But here’s the thing, the med school has been there since the 80s, visitors keep their economy afloat. One would think they would realize that students and tourism are their only hope. The government charges a 40% VAT on everything imported local or not, that is passed on to students because we pay it. Only things not imported like I said earlier is chocolate and rum. We leave and they have no one to push costs on and then they’re fucked to put it bluntly

The United States invaded and occupied the country in October 1983 and forced their chosen government, one that gave the people the means of production, to fuck off. The U.S. government meddled in their bullshit and threw off their entire self-guided route to independence bc they were communist & we had to destroy every communist regime in the world back then. WE did that to them. They hadn’t even been an independent nation for a decade when we intervened!! What fuckin assholes we are for that.
