I can’t believe you think right now is the time to talk about fat phobia. People are being murdered by our government or murdered by things that they CANNOT change about their body and you’re worried about fat phobia.
simple ways to be a fat ally: -educate!! learn about fatphobia and sizeism -PLEASE stop using “fat” as an insult -avoid commenting on EVERYONE’s body -become fat; to truly experience life as a plus size person -call out anti-fat biases

By this criterion (people dying) it will never be the right time to talk about non-lethal discrimination

I said being murdered, not just dying. Stop pretending like you’re a fucking victim or something cause you’re fat.

well they’re not mutually exclusive. larger sized people are more likely to be seen as threatening just based on their size in comparison to the police officers… that’s why they killed Michael Brown and Alton Sterling… but alas, yes it seems frivolous to mention. however, it does play a role that’s not often recognized or acknowledged in police violence.

What we’re not gonna do is sit here and pretend that they were murdered because they were bigger bodied. They were murdered from a different common factor and it sure as hell wasn't their weight.

i’m not pretending. trust me, i was there and in the streets up through 2020. what we can do is recognize that it was a major factor to why it happened the way it did. there are peer-reviewed studies of cops acting more rashly and aggressively with unreasonable use of force when the subject is large in size. they’re more threatened when someone is bigger than them, which is oftentimes just how Black men are built too. they’re not mutually exclusive. both can be true.

they were murdered because they were black not because they were fat. You are pretending. genuinely shut the fuck up and never speak again.

I know that wasn’t the case for Tamir Rice. I didn’t mean to upset you. Officers are more likely to use deadly force against people who are larger in size, in addition to being a racial minority bc they are perceived as an even greater threat just by being Black AND that height & weight… They call it “disparity of force” and use to justify unreasonable murders of Black civilians bc they are often just bigger, stronger, taller people. it’s the kkkops as usual. my apologies for stressing you out
