well they’re not mutually exclusive. larger sized people are more likely to be seen as threatening just based on their size in comparison to the police officers… that’s why they killed Michael Brown and Alton Sterling… but alas, yes it seems frivolous to mention. however, it does play a role that’s not often recognized or acknowledged in police violence.
i’m not pretending. trust me, i was there and in the streets up through 2020. what we can do is recognize that it was a major factor to why it happened the way it did. there are peer-reviewed studies of cops acting more rashly and aggressively with unreasonable use of force when the subject is large in size. they’re more threatened when someone is bigger than them, which is oftentimes just how Black men are built too. they’re not mutually exclusive. both can be true.
I know that wasn’t the case for Tamir Rice. I didn’t mean to upset you. Officers are more likely to use deadly force against people who are larger in size, in addition to being a racial minority bc they are perceived as an even greater threat just by being Black AND that height & weight… They call it “disparity of force” and use to justify unreasonable murders of Black civilians bc they are often just bigger, stronger, taller people. it’s the kkkops as usual. my apologies for stressing you out
