in socialism you share the big things like schools or hospitals, they’re provided by the government. but you can still do things like start a business or own property. in communism you share everything. you cannot actually own anything.

that is communism. communists want to seize the means of production via violent uprising, socialists want to take it democratically and exclusively for public works

note that most modern “socialist” countries are never truely socialist, they’re really more heavily, HEAVILY regulated forms of capitalism. think of socialism as a sort of middle ground between capitalism and communism.
