Yeah OPs acting like the Andes strain isn’t the one that was picked up 😭😭 they checked the boat for rodents and there were 0 on the ship

That being said, while it’s worth paying attention to, it’s highly unlikely to become a global pandemic. Even with the Andes strain, you have to be around infected people in closed quarters for an extended time (which is why it spread so fast on the ship). It’s far too deadly and not contagious enough to be the next COVID.

all i think about is SARS in east asia in 2003. i watched the taiwanese movie “eye of the storm” about it, and that completely changed my perspective of these diseases.

It’s crazy! And what’s crazier is COVID is actually a SARS virus too- which is why it spread so insanely fast. These diseases can be truly terrifying

it’s like people forget that the reason lockdowns were so strict is because we had previous experience with SARS!!!
