Is this where we actually do something about the problem at hand? Or is this one of those times where we wring our hands in the air and eat our own again?
a lot of yall “liberals” need to listen to this. I saw someone saying she was just being rebellious. Why does that have to be at the expense of black people of alllll people? non black poc never have this smoke with the race yall should in this country 💀

You cannot build a successful movement in this day and age in America without purging racism from the party or organization

I’m not the one upset about it. Should Mamdani’s wife have said those words? No. She was young when she said them, so I’m asking you, what do you want to be done? What is accountability to you?

It’s not excusing current racism. It’s the fact some people don’t want to let others grow

yes I don’t have an answer. I will admit that. But it’s not for black people to help people respect us enough to not use slurs against us. That’s all. Whatever

Because you’re the one complaining about it. If you want change, make that change happen instead of sitting around doing nothing.

I’m going to assume they’re OOP. Sharing this is relevant because some people on here are actively defending her, saying she shouldn’t apologize because it’s “made up controversy”, and that apologizing would be an admission of wrongdoing

That’s a bit of a dense reply… At the very least an apology should be EXPECTED…

It’s about half n half tbh. I wouldn’t say it’s made up, but it’s definitely a hit job. I can say they’re words that shouldn’t be said as an adult but at the same time also question whether or not if this is what people should be getting upset about.

It’s not dense if you already know the outcome of an apology…it’s not enough. This is something that isn’t serious but she’s made it worse by deleting her social media.

Was it first surfaced by a conservative person? IIRC, yes (I think it was from the free beacon). But I think what people are upset about is the defense people are vehemently running *for* her more than the fact she said this. At least that’s how I see it but maybe I’m wrong. There is an odd pattern of some leftists ignoring when their own group fucks up

Why are you upset about people defending her? She’s not a public figure, she’s a random woman who’s being publicly slandered solely because people don’t like her husband’s political views. She’s a victim here, of course people are going to defend her.

You could be right. I’m more or less desensitized to words said online anymore. Not excusing it, I’m just not that worked up over it because this definitely isn’t even close to horrible.

No, being the wife of a mayor does not make you a public figure, regardless of whether your name has appeared in the newspaper. She has no political or social power, she’s not a public figure.

Ok and? Being married to the mayor isn’t a job or career. Do you ask people for medical advice because their spouses are doctors or nurses? Of course not, because they’re not defined by their spouse’s career choice. Similarly, she is not defined by her husband’s position.
