I mean personally, whenever I run into someone saying something outlandishly, cartoonishly evil, I prefer to think it’s most likely bait, bc I don’t want to lose all faith in humanity. But that’s another problem with rage baiting too, cause a lot of the time you really cannot tell what’s genuine vs what’s bait
I respect that. And I do agree that to some degree it can be helpful in testing who can discern bait from reality. I just think that in more recent times there’s been a significant increase relative to any other time in history, and it’s being used as an excuse to say some pretty terrible things bc “it’s just rage bait, you got baited” yk?
I totally agree with you. Like evil sheep said, it is in essence part of the human condition, and I think in part useful for testing who has the basic intelligence to discern reality from fiction. But what it’s become in today’s world is essentially just a bs get out of jail free card for whatever terrible, hateful shit people want to say
It’s 100% a get outta jail free card and the “culture” of it is stupid to defend. The commenter who said it’s to “test humans ability to understand what’s real or not” AKA lying. Lying is a natural behavior BUT so is Screaming. Screaming and lying are both behaviors but if you do them in the wrong social contexts, is considered abnormal and sometimes gets you a diagnosis or two. Point is, just cause it’s a human behavior and can be beneficial doesn’t make it appropriate or normal
