To make the grid more reliable we must decentralize and convert to sustainable energy. Fossil fuels will run out someday. The sun, wind, and the geothermal energy aren’t going anywhere. State operated nuclear power stations would also be beneficial.Tbh fission is by far the safest (least injuries/deaths even including meltdown), cleanest, longest-lasting infrastructure, and most consistent output. Until we advance enough on fusion to reliably have a spark and net-positives, we need fission reactors. With enough of them, even the EV paradox is solved where the electricity will come from a clean energy grid.
Fission safety standards are wayyyy better than they were during the major meltdowns of the past. The ONLY other alternative is to progress battery technology to a point where we can hold enough power from renewables to power entire grids when the electricity generated isn’t strong enough (powering cities at night when solar won’t be collecting or without wind for turbines).
both nuclear and renewables should be deployed simultaneously, until we have lessened the total energy consumed by the imperial core. then a total transition to renewables should be pursued, as nuclear energy currently is nonrenewable and much of our fissile materials are tied up in weaponry (another planet ending disaster waiting to happen)
and EVs aren’t a climate solution. they exist to keep cars relevant in a world where fossil fuels are no longer needed. cars and their affiliated infrastructure require more land, more energy, and more resources to finance, all the while limiting people to only one mode of transportation
