And people still have the gall to call us narrow minded or living in an echo chamber for seeing trump as a genuinely god awful person and for realizing how horrible, outdated, and ignorant right wingers are. As awful as I might sound for saying this, I find it impossible to debate in good faith with people I know are wrong, even if they mean well. 95% of the time, it’s right wingers who are wrong.
you’re not awful for saying that. at all. because you want to debate in good faith. they debate to be right. they aren’t open to accepting opinions that challenge their world view. i dont do it either. its like arguing with a spoiled child. you can present fact opinion and sources and its always “ok but”. its a waste of time and energy to try to educate people who refuse to learn whst they may not have known. on here, i just block or stop responding and move on. its a futile effort.
and tbh things like this, the culture wars they perpetuate discredit them totally. you’re struggling but have time to make a million posts about litter boxes in public school bathrooms (debunked), trans women overtaking sports (debunked), a muslim mayor in a city you dont live in paying respects (xenophobic)? if u have time to be online like that over bs and are still struggling..get another job😭
exactly. and then they start w the ad hominems. ive been saying this since i was 16 and im 21 now: “i dont argue with stupid people because stupid people never admit they’re wrong”. i encourage everyone to take thhis perspective. if they got a phone to insult you and ragebait that same phone has internet to research. i dont entertain willful ignorance.
Yeah but places like r/centrism act like we are the stupid ones, that there must be a middle ground. But how do you find a middle ground with evil? Ironically, centrist forums like that still spend more time criticizing right wingers than left wingers, but when you say the obvious part out loud “the right sucks”, they look at you weird.
