"assimilated" is the term they like. the reality is that they were granted societal perception of whiteness. instead of being spat on and called slurs, they became cops and such doing the spitting. whiteness expanded to suppress others more suffocatingly.

Clearly you didn’t understand what I’m saying. Buffalo soldiers wiped out native Americans in service to a white country. You can be a person of color and serve a country or establishment that is also discriminatory against your identity. I brought up Django because that’s literally who Stephen is supposed to represent: fealty to a system that has no fealty to him
