not to nerd out too much but Sauron’s root desire is actually domination!!!! and the danger of the Ring is that it inspires that same desire in the bearer. the really interesting thing is when the Ring is given to an evil person, they just command its power and become super powerful. but when the Ring is given to a good person, it takes their desire to do good and twists it into a desire to dominate “for good reasons”. very politically relevant
