Off topic but did they just use commas everywhere back then? Two look unnecessary

Just talked to a guy who wants to ban all my hunting rifles and shotguns

Commas were mainly used to denote pauses when reading out loud in that era rather than for separating clauses, so I guess it just sounded right to them. Literally just based on vibes

My best guess is they just wrote it as it would be spoken aloud while adding commas for emphasis, but I’m not fully sure

The part before the comma explains the purpose of the amendment, which OP is choosing to ignore. BECAUSE a well-regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state, the right...

Yeah, I saw that conversation, literally no one is stopping you from hypothetically purchasing a firearm that doesn’t violate the law. Regulating a right is not infringing on that right and SCOTUS would agree.

A lot of millennial libs think they should be banned in my experience

Complete ban is unconstitutional, would have to repeal the 2nd Amendment to do that

Well banning is banning, call it what it is and don't try to hide behind petty euphemisms

Yes, banning is banning, banning all guns would be a ban, banning only assault rifles for example would be a legal regulation that’s literally been done before

Under Heller you need to prove the arm is both unusually dangerous and not in common use, semi autos of all types and 11+ round mags are the standard nowadays.

Then we should change the standard lmfao?

Well you'd have to repeal the 2nd and deal with the possible consequences of trying that in America lol

You don’t have to repeal the 2nd to ban magazines with 10+ rounds, you don’t know how the law works at all 💀

Well its pretty hard to say they aren't in common use when both large capacity magazines and semi automatic firearms take up around 75% of the market

Then 25% of the market is compliant? So buy something from them? Like I don’t see how market share matters here lmfao

Cause the Heller decision states that the 2a protects arms within common use?

So what’s the point of the 2nd amendment if you won’t adhere to it? Rights are being infringed on and democracy is being threatened. Might as well give up the gun
