The reason was because tenants don’t need any official documentation of an arrest or conviction, and can just break the lease on the basis of their own allegations. Regardless of that, I think tenants should be able to break a lease without financial penalty if they give any reason to do so. Idc if it’s violence related or not. Tenants get abused by landlords all the time and get trapped in horrible conditions because of unconscionable leases.
