i would expect western leaders to grow a conscience and treat refugees with empathy and understanding after knowing their countries have historically bombed and violently interfered in these third world countries for decades upon decades.

and this is why liberal international order will never improve. because we just expect western leaders to unconditionally treat migrants like trash despite destabilizing their countries because “foreign people scary” is the mentally society should apparently always have.
