Trump: Iran is blocking Hormuz, therefore we need to block the blockade with our own blockade which will block other shipments coming through the blockade

and if this conflict doesnt end anytime soon... oil prices go through the fucking roof, and shit starts falling apart. i guess the goal is to hope iran capitulates or its just non nuclear MAD

I wonder whether this would result in more “shadow fleet” stuff. Iran might try to get their oil on ships that are already carrying other exports from neutral or US-friendly countries. For oil, apparently their only other direct option would (apparently) be Jask Oil Terminal in the Gulf of Oman, but the capacity there is only 300k bpd

And the navy is already sitting around there, and I assume they won’t hesitate to interdict ships, even though they’d be in international waters
