I mean sure but this criticism applies to kind of all religion. Why is it people hyper fixate on Islam when every religion does this

Exactly, singling out Islam instead of principled critique of all religions is reactionary

There’s some overlap but the majority of the things mentioned are exclusive to Islam, like no music

Right but the broader trend of patriarchally restricting women is essentially universal. Christianity does it in a bunch of ways Islam doesn’t, and the same is true with Judaism. It’s pretty stupid to believe Islam does this substantially more instead of just, like, differently.

Tbh I saw on Muslim Tik Tok that things like no music and head coverings were really up to interpretation of the Quaran, much like how a lot of Christians choose their ‘intensity’ of their faith based on biblical interpretations. It’s only in countries under a theocracy the Middle East where women don’t have a choice in the matter, which is why the natural conclusion SHOULD be religious totalitarianism is bad

It seems like this is mostly for Shia sects or in areas controlled by extremist groups. Afghanistan under the Taliban, some areas of Mali, and Iran under Khomeini. Otherwise this seems pretty widely debated, and music from the Islamic world has even influenced western music

Man also I hate to say it but I feel obligated to point out that the no music is not a just an Islam thing (there’s several Christian groups for example that ban it), nor do the vast majority of Muslims adhere to that.
