pregnancy is complex, and by taking medical decisions away from patients and their doctors and putting it in the hands of people who donât understand female reproduction will cause women to die unnecessarily. abortion bans also do not work, hence why abortion rates have not gone down (and even increased) after roe, so instead of banning abortion we should be focusing on the reasons women seek abortions in the first place and address those issues instead.
iâm advocating for making it so that women who are worried about raising children to have the resources they need to have children and the women that donât want children to have affordable access to birth control and proper sex ed so they donât need abortions. and for women who need medically necessary abortions to be able to make that decision with their doctor instead of politicians with no medical degrees who have never taken womenâs health classes making it for them. no trojan horse here
ultimately, i just think there are much better ways to decrease the number of women who seek abortions that arenât medically necessary. by banning abortion, all we do is hurt women who want to have families and treat motherhood as a punishment for women who donât. either way, abortion bans donât fix the problems, they create more, but if you make it easier for women to start families, you see a lot less abortions and more kids who donât have to grow up depend on social services
ok i just gave you ways in which we can decrease abortion in practice which bans donât actually do. and if youâre now referring to medical emergencies, then what do you think happens when a pregnant woman dies? the kid doesnât live, and her living kids grow up without a mother. it sounds to me that you donât care about logical, non-whataboutism arguments, you just want to sound smart when you have nothing to say and no real solutions.
