We need a Teddy Roosevelt 2: even woker. Teddy was a champion of conservationism, but he did it within the early 1900s idea of fortress conservation. This involved kicking native people out of land and having it be set aside as “pristine” for the benefit of hunting and recreation. We know better now. These lands need indigenous burning to thrive. They cannot simply by locked away.
