If you haven’t played kerbal space program, you should. It ran on my absolute shitbox i3 4gb ram laptop, it’ll run on whatever you have. It’s such a fun game that you almost forget it’s teaching you orbital mechanics

Single stage to orbit is best for all scenarios

Never played it but I had a professor who plugged it in his class and I always felt like I should give it a look 👀

please do not further fuel the military industrial complex, there are always alternative options.

Yeah career wise, do you see any moral issue with working for defense contractors especially rn?

Asking bc I got my undergrad degree in mech/aerospace too but decided I couldn’t stomach supporting that industry rn or maybe ever honestly. Really not trying to be all holier than thou cause I participate in this system like the rest of us do, just curious how you’re thinking about the decision yourself

yeah it’s not for everyone. Much of my friends and family are military so I have no problem contributing to the united states military power, I do not want to work on projects that will be auctioned off to foreign states though

contributing to unfettered imperialism is “fun” to you? Fuck ethicality and empathy as long as a dollar is involved, am I right?

I mean I have plenty of family that is military and I don’t think they’re all bad people for doing it, people have their reasons and the military does offer crazy benefits and opportunities for people. I just mean if given the choice to support or not support what they’re doing with your talents, you’re unbothered by supporting it? Like you believe they’re generally doing good for the world or country?

I will say it is a shame that the cutting edge of aerospace engineering is more often than not related to defense. For people who want to break new ground and work on cool projects that often means defense just bc of how we allocate funds. All the people doing innovative work in the civilian space are tiny and hard to get jobs with which sucks
