I do think lowering birth rates will cause issues, but this isn’t me saying “WE NEED TO START MAKING MORE BABIES NOW”, especially since American life is structured in a way that makes pregnancy and parenthood extremely expensive and difficult. I just wanted to wonder a little bit about why people believe things blindly without thinking critically

nah some ppl def should have not and shouldn’t be having babies. too many financially and mentally unstable ppl. we’re overpopulated as it is

From a purely numerical standpoint low birth rates are only “okay” (and I use that term for lack of a better one) if there’s enough immigration into the country to at the very least have a stable population. Otherwise the economy becomes stagnant as an aging population slowly phases out of the workforce and becomes more dependent on social services, which places a larger burden on the younger generations to provide taxed income towards the social services
