I feel like if you’re immigrating somewhere then you’re obligated to assimilate to the culture of the place you’re moving to. Obviously this doesn’t mean you have to abandon your roots but you should learn the language and generally assimilate.

Like say for example I was to immigrate to Poland. I feel as though I’m obligated to learn Polish, assimilate to Polish culture, and generally not make others cater to me. That being said it’d be unfair to expect me to abandon the values I grew up with and there’s nothing wrong with still having American-ish aspects of my life. There’s a fine line between a positive mix of cultures and just plopping yourself down and expecting others to cater to you because you don’t feel like assimilating
