Also, half the country definitely isn’t Republican. 11% of Americans are registered republicans, and even if you count out of total registered voters, it only climbs to 31%.

So is correct but what you're forgetting is that republicans are more likely to anti-government knowledge and thus less likely to declare affiliation. The attached Pew poll is better for determining Americans' beliefs
