Question to fellow liberals here: why do you all hate on Gavin Newsom so much? (To those who do I’m not everyone does)

FYI: yes I know his demeanor can come off elitist and I know some of his policy are controversial but I’m not trying to figure out why people disagree, I’m trying to figure out where the hates coming from. Some far lefties are very visceral and I don’t get it

He’s a nepo baby that was basically raised by the Gettys and Pelosis. His politics are actually pretty progressive though and he’s always been kind of a fighter (look up him using gay marriage licenses as mayor of SF)

Yes I know he was one of the first mayors to legalize gay marriage. At the time it could have been political suicide but it was the right thing to do. I kind of wonder why that compares with his stance on homelessness. I think he does what he thinks is right which is good, but among which includes breaking down homeless peoples tents which is pretty bad even if he had lots of other liberal policies

The thing is he did it while it was totally illegal which is pretty based. And it obviously didn’t hurt him politically. He is generally anti homeless yes but more specifically against street homelessness which is a recalcitrant issue in California specifically
