No, some of us are just realist. The left wants more government intervention, the right wants left because the government is corrupt and if given more power will become more corrupt. The left wants the government to feed, house, pay their bills, give them unlimited free abortions.

upvote -2 downvote

First off, I’m going to correct you because Republicans ≠ MAGA. Secondly, by government intervention I am specifically referring to welfare/healthcare/border control. The left wants government intervention to give illegal immigrants legal status, and everyone welfare, Obamacare and other subsidies. That effectively is more government intervention, when the government is providing your food/housing/what car you have and heating your home (referring to electric only).

That’s not intellectual dishonesty, it’s acknowledging trade-offs. Ideals set goals, realism deals with constraints. Ignoring incentives, fraud, and human behavior is what actually disconnects policy from reality.

I think the people who ignore the most fraud is certainly on the center and right of the spectrum. I think materialists understand human behavior and the human condition the most lol.

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> .gaia. 2d

That flips reality. Fraud isn’t ignored on the center/right, it’s explicitly accounted for. Assuming some people will exploit systems is understanding human behavior. Designing policy around good intentions instead of predictable incentives isn’t realism, it’s idealism with blind spots.

Here’s part of the abstract from the article that I cited. It’s wonderful stuff, and again, this is a study from 2008 where a woman had 46,XY karyotype and even passed it down to her daughter. Biology is never 100% on anything, so we can’t say that every single person with 46,XY is a man, let alone someone incapable of birth when it has been documented otherwise on multiple occasions. Life is beautiful!!!

It is, and I’m saying this not to start a fight but as someone who just did a deep dive into it. But the way pregnancy occurred was through mosaicism (it’s a mix of cell lines, think 46 XY and 45 X, kinda like a chimera [but not actually])

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon

But the PMC2190741 case was a rare natural fertility exception due to mosaicism, but in classic 46,XY Swyer syndrome people carry pregnancies only through IVF with donor eggs and hormone support.

They’re actually very prevalent, they’re the ones working and not protesting, making good money, usually married to cops or firefighters who also lean right. And if you consider NY to be a “red state” have it, the rest of the state would love to get rid of the idiot soon to be mayor. And funny with the job situation, maybe it’s because people don’t want to actually do hard jobs? For example, veterinary medicine has an unemployment rate of 0.5%, nursing 2%, MD 0.3%. Outside of med is just as low.
