Islamic scholars are responsible for sparking the Renaissance as their works and preserved copies of Ancient Greek and Roman texts made their way to Europe via Spain and Sicily to join the the works of ancient Europe which had been forgotten and ignored.

This is insanely oversimplified though and the Byzantine refugees of the 1300s and 1400s did as much or more for works of Greek and Roman culture (I wonder why the Byzantines had a wealth of Greek and Roman cultural artifacts on hand)

Brother what😭😭😭. It was Byzantine refugees that fled when Constantinople fled that would be primarily responsible. As well as Northern Italians

Its borderline disingenuous to primarily credit the Medieval Islamic world for the preservation of Greek and Roman cultural artifacts. A really good equivalent you might be familiar with is crediting America for beating the Nazis while downplaying or neglecting to mention the Soviet Union.

That being said, the Medieval Islamic world did contribute a massive amount of technical knowledge by using, expanding on, and innovating from Greek and Indian artifacts pertaining to math, science, and agricultural practices. The Medieval Islamic world deserves heaps of credit for that. Yet, critically, thats not the same as Greek and Roman cultural artifacts

But you gotta give the Medieval Islamic world credit for their technical knowledge in regards to mathematics and agricultural science

I wouldn’t have an issue with them saying that their contributions shouldn’t be downplayed, but it was European art and European people who are indisputably the ones who deserve the most credit

True, but this does feel like an attempt to downplay European achievement
