You've met manual purists. Manuals are fundamentally better and create better drivers. You can't text and drive with a manual. A manual gives you better control of your car and eliminates on road distractions. Because of this most at fault accidents where someone isn't paying attention could be eliminated.

The source is right here. The drivers on US roads are idiots. Manuals are a skill check. Can't drive manual? Probably shouldn't be on the road. This is a life or death matter.

I’m not arguing manual cars make safer drivers, I agree with that. But, I’m saying I don’t think the solution is giving people more control of the vehicles. I think (10+ years from now) ai will be able to make self driving cars infinitely safer than a human operated manual

These suggestions you’ve made sound like they’re coming from someone who only lived in cities or suburbs outside cities. There are tens of millions of Americans who live 10+ miles from the nearest gas station/grocery store

Ong like there isn’t one catch all solution 😭 we’re going to need cars, we’re going to need trucks. We can reduce our reliance on them absolutely, and we should. But we can’t eliminate them from everywhere
