I think that switching to the direct election of senators and putting live broadcast cameras in the chamber were mistakes.

I’m personally very iffy on the whole cameras in the chambers thing. On one hand it gives the average person a look at what’s going on with those who represent them in government but also in the last decade I feel like every hearing I watch gets either completely or partially turned into a wannabe drama reality show where some congresspeople are causing shit just because they know the news will see it. Maybe we would benefit more from a Supreme Court esque system with audio only?
