woody guthrie made a lot of songs about the ills and vileness of america while also making a lot of songs promoting the fact that we have to step into WW2 and end the growing fascist threat overseas. it’s possible to recognize both and people were doing so even back then.

Unlike a certain side of the aisle, the left is able to recognize the faults of the past while also realizing the broad message that they were promoting. The founding fathers owned slaves and were very misogynistic but we still work towards the ideals they set forth in the constitution and Declaration of Independence, which is equality for all

Also this is just stupid Genocide isn’t inherently fascism you can theoretically be a democracy and commit genocide you can theoretically be socialist and commit genocide. Some of these things also weren’t going on in the 40s.
