The government has structured education and grant pipelines in higher ed since the 40s and 50s… that’s part of why college was made so cheap… we wanted lots of highly educated people to work on projects… and the weapons industry has absolutely influenced things… and the defunding and de-prioritizing of liberal arts after the 70s was to combat rising left-wing thought in higher ed… that’s when colleges were defunded by Nixon and Reagan…

However the grant pipelines and post-undergrad streams were kept intact… then in the 2000s there was a major push to extend those pipelines into high schools and middle schools…

Yeah. And debating the definition of STEM would kind of become a tangential conversation that completely talks past the point I was trying to make and would serve to obfuscate it
