She is American—she was born in Houston and lived in the US until she was 9. You know better than to say that word by the time you’re 9. There’s no excuse.

I don’t know when schools get into it, but I was homeschooled in elementary school and when I was 8 my parents showed me the Roots documentary and told me that it was the one bad word I could never ever ever say, even when I was an adult.

Yeah, and my parents did this in white af New Hampshire. There’s no way you’re living somewhere diverse like Houston and it isn’t coming up as a kid.
