It’s really fascinating to see how rapidly conservatives started repeating that “Europe has no freedom of speech” verbatim as soon as the EU made Elon angy because they fined Twitter for violating transparency laws.

Why the actual fuck is the United States aligned with Europe? They hardly produce anything meaningful, their militaries are weak as shit, they allow migrants to rape and kill people, they don’t have freedom speech, they’re nothing but useless leeches.

Funnily enough, about 70% of examples of “no free speech” come from Great Britain. Which has a centuries long track record of stifling speech. Blasphemy laws, intense libel laws, and the recurring British pearl-clutching over sexual morality.

The UK does have some freedom of speech issues lately and Germany as well, but I wouldn’t say it’s so bad that the US government should be saying something. And it’s not like freedom of speech is going well here either rn
