The fact that the ag. Sec. Basically said “If the circumstances are perfect, it’s just possible to afford food.” Doesn’t give me heaps of hope.

Brooke Collins, the secretary of agriculture, was asked how the average American can afford to eat under the guidance of the updated food pyramid while facing increased costs of living. This was on NewsMax, an effectively propaganda network for ppl who think Fox News is too “fair and balanced.”

Give the question and how she eventually responded, it was clear she’d received the questions ahead of time. She essentially answered “computers told me Americans can eat a piece of chicken a piece of broccoli and a corn tortilla and another thing for $3.00”. When anyone with a brain cell hears this, they realize how comically ludicrous it is and how out of touch our new oligarchs overlords are. And side note given this administration, to suggest a corn tortilla puts a cherry on top

My personal theory is that she told some AI bot to look at the food pyramid and suggest something cheap and how much it would cost. The AI told her “and one other thing” and that it would cost $3.00 and that became her “ran 1000 simulations”

corn tortillas are a traditionally mexican/central american food, so it’s ironic that this administration recommended that while systematically brutalizing, imprisoning, and deporting brown people regardless of legal status

🌽 tortillas were also found with tribes in 🆕 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, who were wiped out. IDK How that maps but I doubt it’s good.
