Being totally honest I don’t get the love a lot of tankies have for post-1985 Russia to be honest. The country is basically a giant gas station with nukes, being run by the people who destroyed socialism there. This is also true of other post-Soviet republics, regardless if they’re western-aligned or not

Also the other post Soviet republics aren’t necessarily gas stations. For example, Turkmenistan is, but Ukraine is a bread stand and the Baltic states are fish markets, Belarus is a thrift store (I don’t know what they do to make money but I’ve bought some cool trinkets from there before), Georgia is a giant winery, etc.

We don’t support the capitalist Russian government, we support Russia’s right to defend itself from anti communist Russophobic Ukrainian leaders and movements who terrorized ethnically Russian Ukrainians in Crimea and the Donbas region. We support independence for the Donbas region. And the right for Russia to defend themselves against NATO, the US and their nukes

Don’t think I don’t hate the Ukrainian government too. I do. I also get why Russia doesn’t like NATO states on their border but I can’t see how invading Ukraine and bombing the place to smithereens would make them a more willing participant in Russia’s camp. It’s a propaganda victory for NATO

NATO did break the agreeement made with Gorbachev’s government that they wouldn’t expand eastward, which definitely would aggravate Russia, but that still doesn’t explain why they invaded Ukraine

The desire of ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine asking for independence in the face of intense anti Russian and anti communist persecution ever since we coup-ed their government and put in place a far right government. And Russia has also tried to negotiate with NATO for forever, they originally wanted membership and cooperation but were pushed out. NATO also went back on their promises to not expand towards Russia
