It was “Queers For Life” and a bunch of people with brightly colored hair and whatnot, looking exactly like the conservative stereotype of an SJW, being like “yeah we’re queers against abortion” and if you asked them any questions they just kinda shrunk away from it. I got an interview with a Turkish state newspaper while I was at that protest though, on an even funnier note lmao
Like the dude said he was press, I naturally asked who he was writing for, didn’t recognize the name but just went with it, he asked me some questions about why I was there and whatnot, took my picture. Soon as I was done talking to him, I googled the paper he said he was with, and it was Turkish state-run press lmao
Different people have different ideas of when life starts, I mean shit even the Bible has multiple different takes on when life starts. There’s verses that say it starts at conception (though, most of those refer to the immaculate conception of Christ, not regular people), and there’s verses that mention life starting at first breath, aka at birth. If you think life starts at conception and abortion is murder, then don’t get one, encourage people you know personally not to do it.
Being pro-choice means you’re also allowed to make the choice to carry the baby to term, I have no problem with people who take a moral stance against abortion, they can make that choice. I have a problem with attempting to legislate morality in a way that’s proven not to work. Banning abortion doesn’t prevent it, it only makes it dangerous because it becomes a “black market” procedure. Also, in a complicated pregnancy, the line between “medically necessary” and “optional” becomes very blurry.
I’d rather doctors and prospective mothers going through a complication NOT have to fear prosecution for performing a necessary abortion before the mother’s life was truly on a thread. And in states with abortion bans, we’ve seen it. Mothers prosecuted for miscarrying, doctors too afraid of prosecution to perform a medically necessary abortion and save a mother, etc. Those are much worse consequences on real, already alive people, not just hypothetical people.
