Because both of those groups are more libertarian and tend to want more rights. There are also authoritarians on both sides who want to restrict gun rights or take them away entirely.

Is it an oversimplification? Absolutely. But is it “fascist propaganda”? No. It was specifically used to describe some of the alliances and agreements between the Nazis and the KPD (of course, the Nazis’ agreements with the SPD are worth mentioning)

Authoritarians on both sides sure do, meanwhile there are libertarians on both sides who are opposed to limiting free speech. Almost like boiling politics down to left vs right is a massive oversimplification.

That’s wild because even entry level leftist theory characterizes “social democracy” as a centrist movement that is counterintuitive to leftism, which means you’re again mistaking centrists for leftists. Maybe you should look into the fishhook theory

Advocating for the fishhook theory but believing the horseshoe theory shouldn’t be taken at least somewhat seriously is certainly a take…both are huge oversimplifications but are useful to consider in some respects
