there should be some legal mechanism preventing parents from forcing/compelling/coercing their daughters into wearing a hijab as a minor who cannot consent

it’s kinda just a function of being a child that you do things your parents say and some people may not agree but as long as it’s not clearly demonstrably harmful i don’t think a legal mechanism is justified

I don’t think it makes anyone Islamaphobic or a reddit atheist (I am not an atheist) to think beating teenage children for wearing the wrong thing should have actionable legal consequences.

parents lowk do a lot of stuff that’s psychologically harmful long term but it doesn’t become illegal until it’s like severe. something can be bad but that doesn’t automatically mean illegal
