Nobody ever listens to me about it. Stephen Hillenburgs grave has been thoroughly pissed on and they won’t stop beating the dead horse of this show until it stops spitting out money

There were a few good years after that. But yeah it’s an absolute shell of its former self. It can be explained away as straight-up body horror with the work around being they are sea creatures.

I think Nickelodeon is going to keep it going probably they may stop when the voice actors die but I don’t see it ending soon. Nickelodeon is desperate because the don’t have much else. They sunk everything in Butch Hartman shows and others with the only thing consistently popular being that show. The movies are acting as a life line, spinoff shows. We are seeing a dying God and it’s not good

After the first movie Stephen Hillenburg eventually relented to continue the show. So yeah i agree. Even in the dark ages of seasons 6-9 the show still kind of had its essence despite spamming gross out humor. It was only truly after his passing that the show mutated into the living corpse of a 90s cartoon and its two devil spawn spinoffs we see now. I’m not even saying modern SpongeBob is BAD, it’s a perfectly serviceable and generic kids show. But it’s just. Not the same show at all anymore n
