Ending the unconstitutional practice of drawing congressional districts based on race is a bad thing. Got it.

It’s what a liberal democracy is . It is good and right that the US should become a more honest and complete version of what it already was.

But no we should let majority white lawmaking bodies systematically disenfranchise black voters bc they’re claiming to not acknowledge race as they do it?

1 vote is 1 vote. Race should not be used as a factor to segregate people by district

You’re just being intentionally blind to the historical reality of racial gerrymandering in this country. Gerrymandering as a method of disenfranchising racial minorities was the norm in this country for a long time. You don’t get to just throw up your hands and go ‘oh well considering race is illegal now so all is well’. You need intentional policy to correct for that and it involves considering race as a factor. Idk why it’s so common to act like we can fix racist policies without talking

Well correction, I know why it’s common I just wish it wasn’t. Casting things like DEI or equal rights voting protections as “racist” bc they consider race allows the maga camp to undo the progress we’ve made towards equality. That’s why they use that rhetoric
