They’re not from dead soldiers, they retired the pickelhaube in 1916, and upgraded to steel helmets better suited for modern warfare. The US got ahold of the scrapped helmets.

This was from 1919, so the symbolism is there regardless. Everybody’s helmets looked the same once they switched to steel, British, American, French, German, Russian, Italian, etc., but the pickelhaube just much more easily represented Germans.

It’s also worth noting that the pyramid wasn’t made of helmets, they were just hung on the surface, which you can see if you look closely.

There r several possibilities here, certain factions w/similar helmets, as well as certain prominent characters, each with a unique helm even within their factions, so I am not exactly sure what or who u mean
