In elementary school my mom dressed me up as a gipsy. Apparently it’s bad?? I just learned that it was bad to dress up as one?. Proves I came from a small minded town. I was uneducated. Didn’t know about trans until freshmen of college

They are Roma not G* that is a slur. You’re about as closed minded as her It’s not really her fault as they aren’t really common in the US and aren’t targeted here like in Europe. Media also doesn’t help with The Hunchback of Notre Dame and my big fat G* wedding

It’s part of cultures not being costumes. I grew up in a predominantly white area and I dressed up as a Native American girl for Halloween. I’m against it now because that costume was cosplaying sacred regalia that Native people want to be respected. Stereotypes is another thing. Costumes of other cultures often are formed on a basis of stereotypes, some of them being harmful.
