I don’t think most people realize that the only way our government stops being filled with rapists and pedophiles is complete and total collapse. I think the 250th July 4th would be perfect for a new Declaration of Independence!

And before someone comments saying “just vote harder” no. The system we live under is built from the ground up to protect those at the top and insulate them from any and all consequence for their crimes. Let’s not forget the Constitution only gave rights to white land owning men originally!

I think we need a reckoning of the current Republican Party, but I don’t think we should give up on our government yet.

Free black men were allowed to vote for a bit and some widowed women as well

it doesn’t matter whether you deludedly cling to the idea of the federal government, it has already fallen.

I know you think that, but we’re currently under a republican government. We didn’t have the same problems under a democratic government

Our government was filled with pedophiles and rapists under Clinton and Obama. It isn’t just a Republican problem, it’s a systemic one

I don’t believe that’s true. Nevertheless our current government is authoritarian and power hungry and fundamentally anti American. Under the democrats there was improvement to American life, which is why I will continue to support the democrats under our current system

you know that you’re the blue maga many of us refer to? The Epstein files is bipartisan, both parties are heavily implicated. you can cling to the idea of a nation long gone (while ignoring there material reality of that nation), but that will not revive the United States of America. it’s time build something better from the ashes.

But you’re in the minority opinion, most people still support America as it is today, and whatever you are suggesting will inevitably cause people to suffer while it’s reformed. I’d rather go with the democrats, who despite their failings have continued to make lives better for Americans, and are popular enough to win (hopefully, please vote <3)

with all due respect, idly standing by and hoping that voting for the lesser evil, who has been gradually adopting the policies of its counterpart (and the overall Overton window shifting ever towards the right), will also inevitably cause people to suffer. It always has, especially if we the scope to a global perspective (but either way). there are ways to preserve the United States of America without preserving its oppressive foundation and behavior.

I believe the best way to do so is to support the democrats. You will have a greater chance to shift the Overton window with big democrat majorities
